The ceremony, held at the beautiful Grosvenor House Hotel on Buckingham Palace Road, hosted 1,400 guests from a range of different industries, with 150 finalists across 25 award categories.

The award aims to recognise and celebrate all aspects of the UK licensing industry, including successes of licensed merchandise, products and properties. The Retro VW fridge-freezer was initially shortlisted from hundreds of retail nominations and a review of more than 5,000 licensed products, with 140 retailers judging each category. 

Despite healthy competition from the likes of a Beauty and the Beast Chip Collection for Primark, and a Peppa-Pig Colour-Changing Raincoat from SquidKids, a panel of industry experts chose us as the venerable winners for our campervan-inspired fridge. The judges commended the product’s excellent design, innovation and originality, as well as the quality of manufacture and packaging.

Implementing the iconic VW brand on the design of the fridge was not just to evoke nostalgia and recognition, but to help forge an individual design for the kitchen, representing the freedom and adventure many would associate with the legendary campervan.
